Product Stewardship Institute – Lowell, Massachusetts
Company – The Product Stewardship Institute at the University of Massachusetts/Lowell, was founded in 2001 by Scott Cassel, the present director. PSI is the country's only national organization devoted to coordinating state and local government agencies to reduce the health and environmental impacts from consumer products. Product Stewardship itself is a principle that directs all actors involved in the life cycle of a product to take responsibility for the impacts to human health and the natural environmental that result from the production, use and disposal of the product.
Project – As with most educational institutions, the University of Massachusetts/Lowell allots a specified budget for web-related projects. Additionally, PSI is a non-profit organization, which further restricted the amount of time and money they could devote to a web site. Their existing site was incomplete, visually unappealing, unorganized and under-managed. Scribble Graphics' tasks were to create a fresh new look for the web site; to organize the multitude of pages into a cohesive, intuitive unit; and to incorporate various cutting-edge technologies – all within PSI's budget.
Result – As this is an ongoing project, results will be updated periodically on this page. An overall design has been approved and completed and Scribble Graphics is in the process of implementing the functionality of the web site. Soon to be incorporated are: an intuitive, flexible content management system; a search feature; an interactive calendar in which users can submit and post upcoming events; and a user management and privileges system. |
